The living room is one of the most important and happening places in a house. As the living room is the place where you welcome your guests and have conversations, the living room design must be top-notch. There are a lot of factors you need to consider while designing a living room. As the living room is the place which people see first as soon as they enter your house, it should be designed in such a way that the room oozes out elegance. There are a lot of things you need to keep in mind while designing.
Tips For Living Room Design
Avoid overcrowding. It is a common mistake many people make. Simplicity is the key. Instead of dumping a lot of sofas and chairs in the room, resort to some minimalistic pieces. If you have a TV in your living room, then you must need a sofa (minimum three-seater) right opposite the TV. In front of the sofa, place a teapoy. That’s it. When you overcrowd, the room tends to look much smaller than it is.
You can also place a shelf or a cupboard close to a wall and keep some antique or stunning pieces on it. Place some books on the shelf as well. But do not overcrowd the shelf with lots and lots of books and other decorative pieces. It just does not work and make your whole room look boring.
Lighting, Shade, And Colors
Light-colored walls are always perfect for living rooms. It not only makes the room look larger but also makes the room looks brighter than it is. Also, make sure to hang some classic or vintage wall arts. But again avoid overcrowding. Hang a maximum of three paintings or wall arts in a room and no more.
Match the curtains according to your sofa and the color of the wall. Eyeing for a contrast colored curtain, then it better be comforting your eyes. Two-piece wall curtains are better than single-piece ones. Also, remember to keep your curtains adequately ironed. Rugs are also an essential accessory needed for your living room. You can either resort to put rugs beneath every chair or keep a bigger rug in the center, beneath the teapoy.
Chandlers are always in style. But do not go for a heavy, crystal-filled chandelier. Instead, buy a simple yet elegant chandelier and hang it just above the teapot. For additional lighting, you can also use wall fitted lightings and make sure it suits the color of your wall and provides not too bright and not too dim light.
